Southwest Securities, Inc. is a leader in trading and underwriting fixed income securities. The firm’s Fixed Income Division is involved in a variety of markets and deals daily with corporations, insurance companies, banks, mutual funds, mid-sized institutions, and private individual clients.  The role of a Fixed Income Operations Specialist will include research, trade input, trade correction, position reconciliation and resolution of settlement issues.  This is an entry-level sales and trading support role and is based in our Chicago office. 

Reporting to the Manager of the Chicago office, the Operations Specialist provides general office support to the Chicago Fixed Income staff. Responsibilities of this entry level position will include daily trade processing and reconciliation with trading counterparties for corporate, government and mortgage securities, daily and month-end reconciliation reporting, researching and resolving trade and/ or settlement problems, identifying cusip changes, settling comparison problems and correcting keypunch and commission entries. Office support functions will include administrative/clerical tasks and general IT support as well as other duties as assigned by manager.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years back office/administrative experience.
• Willingness and aptitude to learn role and serve as back-up to other support roles.
• Ability to quickly learn systems and processes to include CSS, Bloomberg and Value Bond.
• Excellent organizational skills with heavy emphasis on attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
• Strong MS Office skills particularly in Excel and/or Access.
• Prior IT support experience a plus.
• Good interpersonal skills.  Must interact well with coworkers, management, and public counterparts and present a positive attitude even under extreme pressure situations.
