Overview:

The Cashiering department monitors all margin accounts and issues margin calls when the customer's account equity falls below minimum maintenance levels. The Credit Specialist will help to monitor and review the customer accounts in conformance with industry regulations.



Responsibilities:
  • Monitor accounts to ensure conformance with NYSE and SRO rules and regulations.
  • Review money due, stock due and requirement reports, as well as various risk reports.
  • Track and follow-up on calls issued and respond to representative inquiries regarding buying power including intra-day calculations, available funds, 90-day restrictions, day trading, etc.
  • Communicate, both written and oral, with customers.
  • Assist with the development of written policies and procedures and the creation of worksheets and reports as requested. 
  • Involvement in departmental training activities as needed.

 



Qualifications:
  • BS/BA in accounting, finance or related field or 3 years financial services industry experience.
  • Team player with ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment handling a wide variety of tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Detail oriented self-starter with the ability to prioritize workload to meet daily deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Desire to become NASD Series 7 and 63 licensed.
  • Ability to work flexible shift assignments.
  • Previous margin experience preferred.
  • Strong PC skills. Knowledge of MS Office preferred.
  • Candidate will be required to train with SWS Cashiering Department immediately upon hire and must pass the New York Institute of Finance Exam.
